StrikeUP Actor Call Out

Who is it for? Actors based in Reading

Location: Reading

What’s happening?

StrikeUP Theatre are looking for local Reading based actors to take part in an R&D project taking place this June. They are looking for:

  • Actors who are confident with movement and developing new work.

  • Storytellers who are passionate about platforming local voices

  • Interested on hearing from people of all ages and backgrounds

This project looks to gather community stories about isolation and human connection, to tell a verbatim piece of theatre filled with honesty, humour and physical theatre. Actors must be available from the 1st - 4th June. To apply send your CV and a short expression of interest to

The North Wall - ArtsLab Summer Residency

Who is it for?18-25 year old musical theatre makers

Location: Oxford

What’s happening?

  • Applications are now open for The North Wall’s annual ArtsLab Summer Residency - this year collaborating with Harry Blake and Jennifer Fletcher (The Sandman - Southwark Playhouse / THOR & LOKI - HighTide) to develop a brand new piece of musical theatre.

  • The residency will involve a mixture of training exercises, testing new work and creating new material, culminating in an evening of performance at The North Wall.

  • This is not a paid position, but it is free to take part in, with accommodation and meals provided. The residency will run from 12th - 25th July 2021.

Junction Arts - Our Place Call Out

Who is it for? East Midlands Artists

Location: Chesterfield

What’s happening?

  • Junction Arts (and 6 other East Midlands companies) are producing the Our Place project - commissioning 7 artist residencies in 7 communities across the area to create work representative of the region.

  • Each new work will be filmed by a commissioned film-maker in a showcase feature between 3-10 minutes duration for a final web broadcast between 45-60 minutes, premiering on the 26th August.

  • Artists will receive a fee of £3000 inclusive of materials, VAT and travel. Head to the website to download the brief for full details.

Highly Sprung - Associate Artist Call Out

Who is it for? Physical Theatre or Dance Theatre Makers

Location: Coventry

What’s happening?

  • Highly Sprung are looking for 5 exceptional artists to join their team as Associate Artists to deliver inspiring participatory projects in a range of settings throughout the year.

  • Responsibilities will include planning and delivering performances and workshops in such a way as to engage with children and young people in an inspiring and accessible way to develop their creativity.

  • Successful applicants will join Highly Sprung for a 4 day training residency Tue 8th to Fri 11th June 2021, which will act as an insight into Highly Sprung’s creative education processes and focus on embodied learning, exploring their style and practice and how they apply this in both performance and education contexts with children and young people age 4-21.

Freelance Cohort Call Out - Fuel

Who is it for? Freelancers based in London

Location: London

What’s happening?

Fuel in partnership with LEAP and the Mayor of London are seeking 50 creative freelancers who work and live in London to become part of the Shaping London’s Recovery Plan. Each Freelancer will receive a bursary of £4,000 and be paired up with cultural organisations to collaborate on targeted research projects. This will be facilitated by a Fuel freelance team. The outcomes of the research will go on to support the recovery plan by the Mayor of London, working to improve job creation, building training, and advocacy for freelancers. Horizon Showcase

Who is it for? England-based Artists and Companies

Location: Edinburgh / Online

What’s happening?

This is a brand new pilot scheme to showcase England based artists to international partners. The showcase will take place during the last two weeks in August, connecting digitally to Edinburgh’s Festivals. The call-out is in invitation for artists/companies to submit proposals for one of two strands:

  • Presentation which is for work ready to your internationally

  • Residency which is performance ideas that are in development

They are looking for work from any discipline. You can find the full eligibility criteria on their website.

The Young Changemakers at Queen’s Theatre

Who is it for?18-25 Year Olds from Outer East London and Essex

Location: Hornchurch

What’s happening?

Three YCM Catalyst Commissions are up for grabs for young creatives looking to kick-start a live performance idea. The commissions are open to artists from any discipline, you just need to have a new idea that can be experienced live. Successful applicants will receive:

  • £300 bursary

  • A few days rehearsal space at the Queen’s Theatre in May or June

  • A slot on the YCM podcast

  • Support from the company to grow your idea

To apply you need to be:

  • Between 18-25 years old

  • Live, work, or be from Outer East London or Essex

  • Available on June 6th for the live event

  • Be happy to join the Changemakers Network

  • Have a creative idea you want to develop

Director and Designer Shadowing with Charlotte Everest

Who is it for? Directors and Designers

Location: London / Online

What’s happening?

Charlotte Everest the Artistic Director of Mrs C’s Collective is opening up their rehearsal room for aspiring Directors and Designers. The production is part of the Space theatre’s new anniversary season. Creatives invited to shadow will join the room in-person or on zoom. There is no fee involved, so there is no maximum or minimum attendance required. It’s an opportunity for aspiring creatives to get a look at a rehearsal room process.
